Uploading New Status Icons[]

Get them from this image: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1178264/iconlist_state.png and add them to the page. Deora has them all nicely cropped out here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1178264/iconlist_state.zip --Asterelle 18:01, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Too Skill focused?[]

Honestly the majority of skills in the game have some component that is a debuff / stun / buff / dot so by the time you list all the durations / intensities for each you have to write pretty much every skill in the game. That kinda makes it like a skill guide rather than a buff guide... whether something is a squad buff for example is from the skill used not the buff you get.

Going forward, I think all of the over-time effects with a 3 second tick can be stacked multiple times (IH, Bleed, Poison, MP replenish from demon IH) while none of the other buffs can be stacked with themselves.

Also some buffs have the same effect and the same icon but are treated by the game as seperate buffs (often with slightly different hover descriptions). This allows them to stack like the phys attack buff from barb buff and the phys attack buff from Red bubble / Demon spark.
Asterelle 18:01, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Well, my idea for making this guide, which I've actually had for about five months now, was to create a guide which would let people get a bit more information about the status icons they see caused by other players. This way they could have some idea what they mean when working with or against other players in combat, plus have an idea about what the mob versions of those icons mean. This way they can find out, for example, if icon X comes from class Y then it is most likely having effect Z. Yes, it makes things a bit more complex to list, but I think the benefits are worth it. Still, this only covers the skills that have some lasting effect, which is just a fraction of a full skill list.
In any case, I'd like to thank you for starting this article. I'm much better at improving pages and fixing things than I am at starting them or writing them on my own, so this gave me the kick in the pants I needed to get the information I've been collecting up here in the wiki. So, thanks, Asterelle.  :-) -- Sangodoc - PWI wiki mod (talk) 02:55, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

I would like to know where to find the Mystical Tome Icons. I also ID'd unknown Icon files; [Unk buff 53.png] and [Unk buff 56.png] but did not make any other changes.

Heal over time effects can be stacked as many times as it is possible to overlap the heals (with - channeling and such)

also the Strenght of titans buff icon is also used for spark eruption for melee classes (sin, barb, bm, archer, venomancer) i dont know who keeps on removing that when i add it
Furryfury 00:34, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Technically those are 2 different buffs that share the same icon. The spark erupt buff never overwrites strength of the titans. I think they have different buff descriptions as well if you hover over them.Asterelle 04:41, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, that's why I've been removing it. Even though it uses the same icon, it should be listed separately. -- Sangodoc - PWI wiki mod (talk) 06:19, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

if the icons have already been uploaded to the wiki site you should put them at the bottom so i can add them to the skills. Furryfury 19:48, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

I have all of the icons as one image, but I haven't broken it up into separate images yet. I've been collecting screenshots of the official in-game descriptions for the various status icons for a while now, so that I could make a full listing of them. I don't have names or descriptions for some of them, so I was planning on doing it when my list was a bit more complete, but I guess I can make those files, upload them, and add them to the "Unknown Icons" section tomorrow, since I'll have some free time then. -- Sangodoc - PWI wiki mod (talk) 02:45, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

When you do that can you add a link to this page from the Home Page. I would do it myself but the page is locked
Furryfury 00:25, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Add thumbnails for visible effects?[]

A good set of the statuses have identifiable visible effects: bramble has a green ring, the wizard shields are all different colors, Psychic buffs have different effects. I think all buffs that don't have a unique effect produce swirling sparkles. Many of the debuffs also have visible effects like the green skull for poison, the stars for stun, the blue circle for seal, etc. I think some debuffs share a visible effect like pdef reduce, mres reduce, and max hp reduce. I'm wondering how to incorporate this data into the status guide... Another column on the right side with a thumbnail showing a closeup shot of the effect perhaps? Maybe it should be a new page? Asterelle 00:02, 21 February 2011 (PST)

  • I've added a few and think it's pretty good. I'll try to add more. Asterelle 11:24, 21 February 2011 (PST)

Unused Icons[]

i see we have a list of unknown icons but in all reality they are really unUSED icons. i think they should be marked as such and removed from the click list up top -- Furryfury 21:08, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

How do you know that they're all unused? Just because you don't know of anything that they're used for doesn't mean that they aren't used for anything. Someone could come in tomorrow and say, "Hey! I know that! That's from genie skill X," or "old event pot Y". Heck, some new item may even get released that uses them too. You never know. I think it's better to err on the side of caution and call them "unknown", because that's what they really are. -- Sangodoc - PWI wiki mod (talk) 21:47, 30 May 2011 (PDT)

i still think they should be removed from the quickfinder that the top. it would make it easier for people to find the icons that are frequently used--Furryfury 14:50, 31 May 2011 (PDT)

But then if you removed the link from the quickfinder image, then just clicking on the icon there would do nothing, which isn't particularly informative. On the other hand, if you remove the icons from the image, then what does someone do when they know what such an icon does? It's silly to force them to re-edit the image every time one of those icons gets found, and most people wouldn't even know how to do that properly. Honestly, I don't think removing them is better than leaving them in. -- Sangodoc - PWI wiki mod (talk) 07:47, 1 June 2011 (PDT)
Like 50% of the quickfinder is dominated by probably worthless icons. This makes it harder to find any icon you are looking for. I think it would be better to just have a table with all the icons on the page as opposed to a difficult to maintain single image. The image is already missing the new mystic icons. Loading the icons into a table won't really be slow since all the icons have to be loaded individually for the page anyway.--Asterelle 19:29, 2 June 2011 (PDT)
Agreed that what Im trying to get at. there are so many ununsed icons in the quick finders its really easier to find the icons without it Asterelle's idea is a good one--Furryfury 13:43, 3 June 2011 (PDT)

FYI - The Quick Finder image is now updated and includes all possible status icons as of version 537. I've updated the image shortcuts to the article as well. Current count is 46 unknown icons out of 189, or just over 24% unknown. -- Sangodoc - PWI wiki mod (talk) 17:22, 5 July 2011 (PDT)

Missing Skill Descriptions[]

I found the built-in list of status descriptions: http://pastebin.com/CB1nQMZx We have almost all but a few are missing: Alot appear to be rarely used genie skills that get their own icon rather than using a combination of existing icons as most would assume.
