Glyph System

From PWpedia
Jump to: navigation, search

The Glyph System is a new feature added with the PWI Neverfall expansion and is available for players that have reached their Chaotic Soul Cultivation or higher. Players can combine their Sage and Demon skills and then equip Glyphs to further enhance the power or effect of their skills.

Introduction[edit | edit source]

Glyph window.

Players can access their Glyphs by pressing "R" in game and bringing up the skills window. On the right, there are two tabs, one of which opens the Glyph menu. On the left of the Glyph menu, players can see the list of skills that can use Glyphs. Hovering over the Glyph Effect gems will display the full skill description of each Glyph effect. On the right, players can see the Glyph Slots. Once unlocked, players can drag and drop their desired Glyphs and skills into the slots. Beneath the Glyph slots there is a Glyph Bag where players can store their Glyphs.

A player can equip up to three Glyphs at any given time if they have completed their Chaotic Soul Cultivation and up to six Glyphs if they have completed their Celestial Saint Cultivation. Skills and Glyphs can be changed any time so long as the player is not in combat mode.

Glyph Slots[edit | edit source]

New players can unlock their very first Glyph slot in the Celestial Vale and are able to use Glyphs on their Town Portal skill. Veteran players can unlock their first Glyph slot in the Western Steppes by completing the quest given by the Glyph Master of Mercy, an NPC located outside the City Hall of Neverfall.

Subsequent Glyph slots can be unlocked by doing quests received from the rest of the Glyph Master NPCs, located outside the City Hall of Neverfall. The list of the NPCs is the following:

  • Glyph Master of Honor for the second Glyph slot quest
  • Glyph Master of Courage for the third Glyph slot quest
  • Glyph Master of Modesty for the fourth Glyph slot quest
  • Glyph Master of Loyalty for the fifth Glyph slot quest
  • Glyph Master of Sincerity for the sixth Glyph slot quest

Once a quest has been completed, the player with receive an item which they have to right click and the Glyph slot will be unlocked. Players can also buy Glyph slot items from the NPCs by paying 10,000,000 coins, but it is recommended to do the quests so the slots can be unlocked for free.

Acquiring Glyphs[edit | edit source]

There are five types of Glyphs:

  • Sanguine Glyph Lv1.png Sanguine Glyph
  • Ethereal Glyph Lv1.png Ethereal Glyph
  • Verdant Glyph Lv1.png Verdant Glyph
  • Golden Glyph Lv1.png Golden Glyph
  • Argent Glyph Lv1.png Argent Glyph

Players can collect Neverfall Squire's Badges through the Western Steppes daily quest "Swords to Plowshares"; or by progressing through the main quest line of Neverfall which begins at the Datun Docks near Niore village. These badges can be exchanged at the Royal Knight Hector in Neverfall (349 593) for level 1 Glyph Packs.

Players can also farm Glyphs from the boss drops in Dawnlight Halls and by completing the Dawnlight Halls daily quest "Dawnlight Justice" which is automatically received when you enter the dungeon. The bosses drop tradeable level 1 Glyphs and the last boss has a chance to drop tradeable level 4 Glyphs. The Dawnlight Halls daily quest rewards players with level 2 Glyph packs and Neverfall Squire's Badges.

Level 1, 4, and 7 Glyphs are all tradeable and can be sold to or bought from other players.

Leveling Glyphs[edit | edit source]

Glyph Growth window.

Glyphs can be leveled in order to increase the power of the effects they offer to skills. There are four tiers of Glyphs and all Glyphs under the same tier offer the exact same skill effects regardless of the Glyph's level.

  • Tier 1: Glyphs level 1 - 4
  • Tier 2: Glyphs level 5 - 7
  • Tier 3: Glyphs level 8 - 9
  • Tier 4: Glyphs level 10

In order to level Glyphs, players have to combine them. To do this, open the Glyph menu by pressing "R" in game and then select the Glyph Growth tab at the top. Place the Glyph you wish to level at the center. The Glyphs placed around the central Glyph will be used to feed the central Glyph.

If the combination succeeds, the central Glyph's level will increase by one. If the combination fails, the central Glyph's level will decrease by one. At the top left of the Glyph Growth window, the success rate will be displayed. Players cannot feed higher level Glyphs to lower level Glyphs.

Recommended Combining Path[edit | edit source]

  • Glyph Lv.1: Glyph Lv.1 = 1
  • Glyph Lv.2: Glyph Lv.1 + 2x Glyph Lv.1 = 3
  • Glyph Lv.3: Glyph Lv.2 + 2x Glyph Lv.2 = 9
  • Glyph Lv.4: Glyph Lv.3 + 5x Glyph Lv.2 + (Glyph Lv.3 - Glyph Lv.2) = 45 (after average of 2 attempts)
  • Glyph Lv.5: Glyph Lv.4 + 3x Glyph Lv.4 = 180
  • Glyph Lv.6: Glyph Lv.5 + 3x Glyph Lv.5 = 720
  • Glyph Lv.7: Glyph Lv.6 + 5x Glyph Lv.5 + (Glyph Lv.6 - Glyph Lv.5)*1.5 = 3780 (after average of 2.5 attempts)
  • Glyph Lv.8: Glyph Lv.7 + 5x Glyph Lv.6 + (Glyph Lv.7 - Glyph Lv.6)*1.5 = 17370 (after average of 2.5 attempts)
  • Glyph Lv.9: Glyph Lv.8 + 5x Glyph Lv.7 + (Glyph Lv.8 - Glyph Lv.7)*1.5 = 85005 (after average of 2.5 attempts)
  • Glyph Lv.10: Glyph Lv.9 + 5x Glyph Lv.8 + (Glyph Lv.9 - Glyph Lv.8)*1.5 = 403582.5 (after average of 2.5 attempts)

Glyph Stats[edit | edit source]

The stats are class dependent so the values may vary but depending on the Glyph's level characters can get more HP, physical defense, magic defense, physical attack, magic attack, spirit, attack levels and defense levels.

Glyph Bonus[edit | edit source]

Displayed Glyph bonus.

When a player has all six Glyph slots unlocked, they can activate a Glyph bonus by using Glyph on specific skills. When the majority of the skills with Glyphs belong to one property, then the character will receive that particular property. If the skills of different properties are equal in number then no bonus will be activated.

  • Players with Martial Prowess deal 15% more damage to players with Dragon's Might.
  • Players with Dragon's Might deal 15% more damage to players with Tiger's Rage.
  • Players with Tiger's Rage deal 15% more damage to players with Martial Prowess.
  • Players with no Glyph Bonus activated take 5% more damage from players with a Glyph Bonus.
  • Players with the same property have no damage modifier against each other.

Glyph Skills[edit | edit source]

Skill books at Royal Knight Hector.

Players will have to upgrade their skills before they can use Glyphs on them. Currently each class can upgrade ten skills. The first five are unlocked with the Chaotic Soul Cultivation and the last five are unlocked with the Celestial Saint Cultivation.

Skill books can be acquired by exchanging Neverfall Squire's Badges and Neverfall Knight's Badges at the Royal Knight Hector in Neverfall (349 593).
