Phoenix Valley is a type of dungeon where players can earn a large amount of experience by killing wraiths. There are two different modes of Phoenix Valley: a solo mode and a squad mode. The solo mode is only available for players level 55-99, while the squad mode is only available for level 95+ and level 100+ players. The two modes are also vastly different in how you clear monsters and how you earn experience.
Players can complete the solo version of Phoenix Valley once per day. Players doing the squad version of Phoenix Valley can run the dungeon multiple times per day using different methods.
Starting Phoenix Valley[ | ]
Players can enter Phoenix Valley by talking to Khoan the Survivor. He can be found in most major cities, in the following locations:
- West Archosaur (531, 642)
- East Archosaur (572, 646)
- Etherblade City (451, 874)
- City of the Lost (250, 650)
- City of the Plume (324, 421)
- City of Raging Tides (669, 127)
- Tellus City (378, 227)
- Dawnglory (759, 862)
For players doing solo mode Phoenix Valley, they will only be able to enter if they are not in a squad. They will not receive an entry token; they will be teleported in automatically. If the player leaves the dungeon, they will not be able to re-enter again until the next day.
For players doing squad mode Phoenix Valley, they will first receive a 15 minute-timed token which they can use to enter either the level 95+ or level 100+ Phoenix Valley at Khoan the Survivor. Once they have chosen a level bracket they will not be able to enter the other level bracket that day. The token will not be consumed, allowing the player to re-enter and repeat the dungeon multiple times until it expires. This token can only be acquired once per day.
Solo Mode[ | ]
Solo mode is available for players between levels 55 and 99, and can only be completed alone. In this mode you will gain experience by completing quests which award experience based on the amount of monsters you kill. The only experience-boosting item that is effective in this mode are Ancient Gifts; Hyper EXP Stones and other such items will not boost experience earned in this mode. Unlike squad mode, solo mode does not require the player to have any equipment or skill level to complete.
Upon starting solo mode of Phoenix Valley, 8 Dragon Binders will appear next to Haphwestus. Digging one of these will spawn a Dragon Roar. You can then mount the dragon by double-clicking on it and then clicking on the arrow button that appears on the screen. The Dragon Roar has 150k health and will last for 10 minutes or until it dies. If it dies, the player will be knocked off the mount and attacked by any monsters that were attacking the Dragon Roar, which can kill the player. The player can go back to the beginning and dig another Dragon Binder to spawn another Dragon Roar.
The Dragon Roar has 4 different skills which can be used by pressing number keys:
- Dragon Breath (1 Key): Breathe cold air from its mouth, attacks all targets within a 120 degree and 15 meters radius fan-shaped area, dealing a large amount of damage.
- Dragon Sweep (2 Key): Sweeps with its tail, attacking all targets within 15 meters around it, dealing a large amount of damage.
- Dragon Leap (3 Key): The dragon leaps up and Freezes all targets within 15 meters around it for 5 seconds.
- Dragon Trek (4 Key): Increases Movement Speed and recovers HP.
A good method for killing monsters:
- Run around and grab a good amount of monsters, but make sure not to take more than the Dragon Roar can handle.
- When the monsters are close, use Dragon Leap by pressing the 3 key to freeze them all.
- Alternate between Dragon Breath and Dragon Sweep by pressing the 1 and 2 keys to kill them before the freeze ends.
- Use Dragon Trek by pressing the 4 key if your Dragon Roar is getting low in health.
- Repeat until all monsters are dead.
Rewards[ | ]
At the end of the dungeon you can hand in your quests at Haphwestus to receive experience rewards. Make sure to dismount your Dragon Roar to receive the rewards. If you leave the dungeon early you will lose the quests and thus lose the rewards for that day. The amount of experience you receive will depend on your current level and the amount of monsters you killed, and can be boosted using Ancient Gifts. It is also naturally boosted if you are reawakened - you will receive a 4x exp boost at reawakening 1, and a 3.5x exp boost at reawakening 2.
There are a set amount of monsters in each Phoenix Valley solo run. The more you kill, the more experience you will get. The amount of monsters that will spawn are as follows:
- Sword Fanatics: 170
- Sword Slaves: 171
- Sword Adepts: 37
- Sword Whistles: 1

Squad Mode[ | ]
Squad mode is available for level 95+ and level 100+ players, and can be completed alone or in a squad. In this mode you will gain experience by killing monsters instead of completing quests, so it is heavily recommended to bring Hyper EXP Stones and other experience-boosting items such as Ancient Gifts, Training Esotericas, or Elite Golden Silkworms. It is also recommended to do this dungeon while a 2x or 3x EXP event is active. If there is an EXP event active, do not use Training Esotericas or Elite Golden Silkworms as these will not stack with the EXP event.

Squad Setup[ | ]
First off, do not take the quest until your squad is set up and ready to go in. This is a timed instance, so if anyone in the squad takes the Phoenix Valley token (the item is timed at 15 minutes) from the NPC before all players are ready chances are someone in the squad will be kicked out before the run is over with. If squad members get killed and leave the dungeon after the token has disappeared they will not be able to get back into the dungeon even if they are still in the squad.
As of now anyone with decent gear and good knowledge of their class can solo or duo Phoenix Valley. But in later levels or just for fun, a good squad should consist of:
1 Tank
1 Healer
2 AOE DDs
A back-up healer or an extra AOE DD might be a good idea if a player is poorly geared or has no knowledge of PV.
Squad Roles[ | ]
Tank
Simple you keep the mobs on you and off your squad. A Seeker or Blademaster may be used in place of a Barbarian if one is not found.
It should be noted that when the tank is pulling he will have to stop at certain places for the squad to kill the mobs, the whole instance cannot be done all in one pull. A good tank will be able to do low level PVs in maybe 3-4 pulls, however if you are a tank new to PV or just don't have the gear to stand multiple hits, you may want to limit your pulls. Oh and for the love of all things related to gaming please read up on Aggro!
Watch one of the many videos on YouTube (make sure you search for the right level range) to get an idea of were you should stop with the mobs in a run. If you are using a search engine to look for videos make sure to add "squad" or "party" to your search, or lot of solo videos tend to pop up otherwise.
Healer
Your healing is essential in order for the squad to live!
Cleric: Start out with about 3 stacks of Ironheart Blessing on the tank before he dives into the mobs. When he stops, up goes Chromatic Healing Beam (lower level PVs) or Regeneration Aura aka BB (Level 59 skill).
Note: I personally recommend you tell your squad you need chi every time a wave of mobs is killed. Most tanks that have not played a cleric before don't know (or just flat-out forget) that BB takes 2 sparks and without the halved damage and healing factor it carries, squad wipes are imminent.
Mystic: This class will most likely play back-up healer and won't be much help as a solo healer until level 39 when they earn their AOE heals, but alas, clerics can be hard to find sometimes. Dig out Salvation to stick its buffs on the tank before he enters the fray. When he stops, dish out all the AOE healing you've got. If you're confident in your skills you may switch between your Salvation for protection and Storm Mistress for AOE damage. Otherwise just stick with Salvation.
Damage Dealers
All classes make good contributions to AOE damage in Phoenix Valley. But most will not learn good AOE skills until after their Level 59 Cultivation.
Main AOE DDs: Blademaster, Wizard, Archer, Psychic, Seeker
The big guns of all out AOE damage. Most will need chi to execute their AOE skills.
Secondary AOE DDs/Support: Venomancer, Assassin, Mystic
These classes may not make as much damage as fast in the AOE category, but they are great to bring along for both AOE and support. The buffs and support skills these classes can provide are a good boon in any squad.
Only a few minor details to note here that need some reminding:
Psychics: You are able to control your Aggro. Attracting mobs too much? Use White Voodoo.
Assassins: X-nay on the APS except at the boss. APS in big mob pulls does the squad no good. Even if your AOE skills don't do nearly as much damage as the big magic guns the debuff off of Subsea helps the other members of your squad to take out the pulls even faster.
Mystics: I'm afraid your Devil Chihyu does you no good here. Storm Mistress is a much better choice for Phoenix Valley when it comes to full out multiple mobs.
Venomancers: Noxious Gas (Level 39 skill) is your friend, not only your pet. Spam it.
All in all there really isn't much to running Phoenix Valley. You get in, kill everything, and get out. At the end of the run just quit the squad in order to leave or open your quest list to exit to a main city of your choice. Oh...and..um...just don't die.
