Rank 9 Second Cast (R99, R9R2), also known as Ascended Rank IX gear, is an upgraded version of Rank 9 gear. It was released on November 2nd, 2011 in patch 580. It can only be obtained once you have your rank 9 first cast gear. All pieces of rank 9 can be upgraded except for ★★Ring of Trauma. When upgrading to second cast, you will not lose any refines or sockets currently on your first cast gear.
Cost[ | ]
This gear can be obtained mainly through Summerwind Tokens. You can create Summerwind Tokens at the Celestial General (129, 856) in the City of a Thousand Streams with 1,200 Uncanny Crystals and 300 Rapture Crystals.
Uncanny and Rapture Crystals are commonly obtained by:
- Can be manufactured from Supply Tokens, a reward from Nation Wars. The most common method.
- As drops from bosses in the Palace of Nirvana.
- Can be obtained from certain packs in the form of Uncanny Chests and Rapture Chests.
- Purchasing from other players.
There is also a coin fee of 100,000 silver coins per piece of gear for manufacturing.

All rank 9 second cast armor comes with a guaranteed 4 sockets, while weapons come with a guaranteed 2 sockets. When upgrading, your gear will retain any refines or sockets that your first cast gear had. You can only obtain this gear once, and it cannot be rerolled for better stats. Everything can be refined except for the belt.
