Note that abbreviations may vary between servers; for example some servers may refer to Rank 9 Third Cast as R9R3, R999, or R9S3 depending on which server the player is on.

City of a Thousand Streams, a city in the Northwest corner of the Midlands.

A term used for an old glitch that has since been fixed. It involved being killed in a Valley of Reciprocity run, and unintentionally being kicked out of the dungeon to City of a Thousand Streams.
1K Woods
Thousand Wood Ridge, an area in the Northern central part of the Midlands.
1x, 2x, 3x, ..., 10x
An abbreviated way of indicating a level range. A "4x" character is level 40-49, for example.

A term for kill quests in dungeons such as Wraithgate, which previously required you to kill 20 of three types of Wraiths. These quests have since been updated to only require 10 of three types of Wraiths.

Old Moonshade Desert, the fourth and final map to be unlocked in the Chrono Quest chain.

Usually refers to an Arigora Colosseum squad or battle, so-called because the battles are 6 players vs 6 players.
#9 (i.e. 19, 29, 39, 51, 59, 69, 79, 89, 99)
The various FB dungeons. Note that the term 51 is more commonly used than 49. Also sometimes used to refer to cultivation levels (e.g. Oggo, Quillhog King is a boss for your 59 cultivation).
999, 999s
Icebound Underworld, so-called because the run lasts 999 seconds.
X/Y
Usually seen as "4/6", "5/10", etc. The number of players currently in a squad and the maximum amount of players that can join that squad. For example, "4/6" means "there are currently 4 players in the squad, we can have a total of 6 players in the squad".
XXX YYY, XXX YYY (ZZ)
Map coordinates. For example, "585 665 (22)" are the X and Y map coordinates for the Faction Supervisor NPC, with the vertical position (height) shown in parentheses. The height is usually left off in the case of coordinates for things on the ground.

Arcane Armor, the armor type that primarily provides magic defense. AA requires many magic stat points and some strength stat points to wear.
ABBA, ABA
Abaddon, the FB99 dungeon for demons.
AC
Armor Class or Defense, usually 'PDef' in this game.
ADC
Ancient Dragon City, a PW-MY name for Archosaur, the capital city of the Midlands.
Add(s)
An additional monster that has spawned during a boss battle, or follows around a boss.
AE
Area Effect, see AoE.

Ancient Evil, a Twilight Temple boss.
AEU
Advanced Endless Universe.
AFAIK
As Far As I Know.
AFK
Away From Keyboard, meaning that the player is away from their computer.
Aggro
Short for "Aggression", the act of a monster being provoked to attack the player. This usually happens if the player moves too close to the monster. May also mean generating threat, or "gaining aggro".
Aggro Radius
The radius around the monster where they will be provoked to attack player.
Agi
Agility, an old name for the Dexterity stat.
AH
Auction House, where you can buy and sell items with other players, available through the Auctioneers in any major city.
Alt
An alternative character or secondary character that you own that you do not primarily play.
AoS/AOS
Altar of Saintess, a dungeon in the Western Steppes.
Amp
Amplify Damage, a venomancer skill that causes the target to take extra damage.
AoE
Area of Effect, a skill that can affect multiple targets in an area.
Apo, Apoth
Apothecary item; a potion, powder, pill, or other consumable item that gives a temporary boost in stats.
APS
Attacks Per Second, the Attack Rate stat in your Character window.
Arch/Archo
Archosaur, the capital city of the Midlands. May very rarely mean Archer. Can also be a reference to old server Archosaur
Arena
Arigora Colosseum.
ASAP
As Soon As Possible.
Atk
Attack.
ATM
At The Moment.
Avatar
Your character.

Aura of the Golden Bell, the blademaster's physical defense buff.

Battleground

BH
Bounty Hunter, the daily quest you get starting at level 40 from the Head Hunter in the center of Archosaur. BHs often take place in FBs, so BH39 would be a Bounty Hunter quest that takes place in FB39 (Gate of Delirium).
BIDS
Black Ice Dragon Strike, a wizard skill.
BR
Big Rooms. Typically refers to the largest room in Frostcovered City, a popular place for leveling.
BK
Back; something you say right after you come back from being AFK.
BKI
Beast King's Inspiration, the barbarian max HP buff.
Blink
A nickname for the wizard spell Distance Shrink, which jumps the wizard forward very quickly.
BM
Blademaster.
BoA
Barrage of Arrows, an archer skill for doing continuous AoE damage.
BoI
Battle of the Immortals, a retired PWE game.
Boss
A monster that is tougher than regular monsters. Usually drops better loot.
BP
Bloodpaint, the assassin squad buff that affects assassins, barbarians, blademasters, duskblades, edgerunners, and seekers, giving them some HP for each physical combat attack.
BQ
Base Quests. A daily series of quests received from faction bases that allows players to level the base, and get points to spend on various items and some gear. You must be in a faction that owns a base to do these quests.
Bramble
Bramble Guard, a venomancer buff that reflects damage dealt from monsters or players.
BRB
Be Right Back.
BRT
Be Right There.
BS
Blacksmith, a crafting skill.
BTW
By The Way.
Buff
A positive effect on a monster or player, caused by a skill or apothecary item.

C/O
Current Offer, the current price in a player "auction", normally done in World Chat. If nobody offers more, then the person who made that offer will get the item(s) at that price.
Camping
The act of waiting in an area to hunt a specific monster that tends to appear there.
Carebear
A term for a player that prefers PvE (Player versus Environment) gameplay over PvP (Player versus Player) gameplay.
Caster
A magic class, such as a wizard.
Catshop
A Consignment Shop, or a shop players can set up to sell to or buy from other players. So-called because the shop by default appears as a cat standing on its tail.
CC
Crowd control. A skill or a class that can cast skills which prevent other players from moving or being able to attack, for example a psychic who can freeze and stun a large number of players in one spot.
CD
Cooldown, when a skill or potion requires time to pass before you can use it again.
Channeling, Chan
The amount of time it takes to channel a skill in order to cast it. Not to be confused with casting, the act that occurs after channeling and cannot be interrupted.

Character.
Chi
The yellow bar that's below your health and mana gauge, allowing you to use certain skills.
CM
Community Manager, a staff member that interacts with the community. May occasionally also refer to Community Moderators, non-staff volunteers that moderate the game's forums.
CN
China or Chinese, from the two letter country code.
Clr
Cleric.
Co-ords,Coords
Coordinates, your position on the current map that you are on. Can be found above the minimap in the top-left corner of the window.
CoA
City of Abominations, a weekly level 50+ event.
CoF
Cube of Fate, a level 40+ "game" of skill, wits, and chance. More commonly abbreviated to "Cube".
CON
Constitution, an old name for the Vitality stat.
CQ
Cultivation Quest(s), the Spiritual Cultivation quests you get every ten levels or so that give you the ability to learn new skills and the like.
Crit
Critical hit, a hit which deals your Rage Damage, normally 200% damage. It may also refer to your critical hit rate, the chance of performing a critical hit.
CS
Crazy Stone, a daily quest that begins at level 30.

Cash Shop, a.k.a. the Boutique
or
Customer Service, i.e. the tech support branch at PWE.
CTD
Call to Duty, the level 19, 29, 39, etc. FB quests. Also the Tabs for those quests. See Call to Duty for details.
Cube
The Cube of Fate, a level 40+ "game" of skill, wits, and chance.
Culti
Short for 'Spiritual Cultivation'; referring to both your characters cultivation level and the quest chains to get there.
CV
Crescent Valley, an old name for Lunar Glade.

The wizard skill The Dragon's Breath, a continuous AoE fire attack.

Disconnected, usually due to some glitch, lag spike, or bad connection.

Direct Damage, a skill that does all of its damage in one hit rather than spreading its damage over time.

Debuff, De-Buff
A negative effect on a monster or player that makes them less powerful, usually caused by skills.

The developers or programmers of Perfect World. The developers are based in China.
Dex
Dexterity, one of your four primary statistics.

Dawnlight Halls.
DHD
Dawnlight Halls Deicide mode. May also be used when announcing the day's Master Bounty Hunter quest as Dawnlight Halls, even though players can complete the Bounty Hunter quest outside of Deicide mode.
DHJ
Dawnlight Halls Judgment mode.
Ding
An announcement to say you have reached a new level.
DMG
Damage.
DO
Dragon Order; at the end of the Dragon Quest you get a Copper, Silver, or Gold Dragon Order.
DoD
Dragon of the Depths, a mid-level cultivation boss.

Diamond of Dragon, a grade 14 shard that adds +1 to your defense level.
Doll
An old nickname for the Guardian Angel, now called a Guardian Scroll. So-called because the item looked like a Kewpie doll.

Damage Over Time.

Dreamweaver Port, a city on the Southeast corner of the main landmass.

The act of multiple players attacking a single player in PvP. May also be used as a term in PvE against monsters.

Guild chat, or faction chat.
GF
Good Fight.

Good Game.
G.I.R.L.
Guy In Real Life, usually used when referring to a female character that is played by a male.
GJ
Good Job.
GM
Game Master. A PWI staff member that helps players through customer support and may appear in-game.
GoF
God of Frenzy, a weapon add-on that gives you a chance with each hit to temporarily get an increased crit rate at the cost of 5% of max HP.
Grats, Gratz
Congratulations.
Griefer
A person who purposely tries to annoy or anger other players.
Grinding
Staying in the same area fighting the same types of monsters for a very long time for the purposes of gaining Experience, Spirit, coins and/or items.
GS
Guardian Scroll, a Boutique item that prevents EXP loss (and item drops if PKed) upon death.
GTG
Got To Go.
Guild
Another name for faction.
Gunner
The unofficial name of the Human class, officially called the Technician.
GV
Godless Valley, the old name for the Valley of Reciprocity.

Heiro

Kill Steal. Stealing or trying to steal another person's kill, by finishing the monster off after they attacked it first.

Link Weapon
Usually a request to show your main weapon in chat, which can be done by ⇧ Shift + left-clicking the weapon. Players usually request this for more difficult dungeons to determine whether your gear level is high enough to join the squad. It may also be used for squads that want to nuke bosses quickly (kill bosses before they have a chance to do anything).

Loot
Items dropped from a monster that has been killed. Or items received from a diggable source, or the act of retrieving items from said source.

Line of Sight, as in "No LoS to target".
Lost
City of the Lost, or Lost City, the capital city for the Untamed. May also refer to Lost City, one of the old servers.
LP
Lucky Points, the accumulated total of the random 1-10 points a genie gets every 10 levels.
Lunar
Lunar Glade, a high level dungeon accessed from the castle flying above King's Feast. May also refer to gear acquired from Lunar Glade.
Lurer
Person who lures monsters for the squad. Usually a venomancer or a player with a Zeal genie with the Earthflame skill.
Luring
The act of attracting one or more monsters back to a group of players so that they can attack the monster(s) safely.

Level.

Mag
Magic, one of your four primary statistics.
Mag Pen
Magic Penetration, a stat primarily found on Star Charts.
Mage
May mean wizard or any magic user in general.
Mana
Magic Points.
MAtk
Magic or Magical Attack, a damage type and a stat. May also refer to a piece of equipment's stats or add-on.
Mats
Raw materials used for the crafting of other items.
MBH
Master Bounty Hunter, an advanced type of Bounty Hunter quest for level 100+ players.
MDef
Magic Defense. A group name for metal, fire, water, earth, and wood resistance stats, used to reduce damage from various types of magical attack.
MG
Magician or Human Mage, an old name for wizard.
MMO, MMOG, MMORPG
Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game.
MOB
A monster. Short for "Mobile" or "Mobile Object".
Moria
An incorrect spelling of Morai.
MP
Magic Points or Mana Points, used for most skills.
MPen
Magic Penetration, a stat primarily found on Star Charts.
MQ
Marriage Quest, the daily quest that two married players can take together.
MT
Main Tank, the tank that keeps aggro in a squad with multiple tanks, or rarely Magic Tank, a tank that's good against magic damage.
Mys
Mystic.

An alternate way of saying noob.
Necro(ed)
To bring an inactive, or dead, forum topic back to life by posting on it. Generally results in the forum thread being locked.
Nerf
To downgrade or make less effective. Usually referred to when a game patch has downgraded a feature.

Twilight Temple Revisited.
Newbie
A term used to describe a player who is new to the game. Sometimes confused with "noob".
Newb
Short for "newbie".
Ninja'd
When someone posts some or all the same information before you managed to write it or finish book writing.
Nix
Baby Blazing Phoenix, a legendary battle pet, created using Boutique items.
Noob, N00b
An inexperienced player.
NP
No Problem.

Nuema Portal, a 6-card War Avatar Card S set.
NPC
Non-Player Character, a computer controlled character. Usually refers to non-player characters players can interact with such as a Banker.

The Northern Realm (also known as the Northern Wastes), a region located to the north of the Midlands.
Nub
An alternate way of saying noob.
Nuke
High damage in one hit, or the act of killing a monster of boss quickly before it has time to properly react.
NV3
Third cast Nirvana Gear. Also referred to as G16.
NW
Nation Wars, a biweekly group PvP event.

Paladin
The unofficial name of the Winged Elf class, officially called the Edgerunner.
Paper Clip, Paperclip
A nickname for World Quest.
Party
Another name for squad.
PAtk
Physical Attack, a damage type and a stat. May also refer to a piece of equipment's stats or add-on.
Pav
Pavilion, an area in Warsong City.
PC
Price Check
or
Personal Computer.
PDef
Physical Defense, a statistic granted mainly by armor (also by vit and level), used for resisting physical attacks.
Pet
A NPC companion such as a Wolf. Can be a battle pet or an all-class pet.
Phy Pen, Phys Pen
Physical Penetration, a stat usually found on Star Charts.
PK
Player Kill, a type of PvP. May also mean Player Killer.
PKK
Player Killer Killer, a term that was commonly used on PvP servers for someone who usually only killed players who killed other players.
Plvl
Power level(ing), the act of rapidly gaining levels on lower level characters, such as being in a squad with high level characters while they kill lots of high level mobs.
Plz
Please.
PM
Private Message, to whisper a message directly to a single player.
PM Pav, PM Pavilion
A term someone may use when looking for players for a full Warsong City run and want players to private message them saying which pavilion(s) the player can handle and possibly which pavilion the player wants to defend. In the first part of the dungeon, players must defend each of the pavilions (water, fire, earth, wood, metal).
PM Weapon, PM Weap
Usually a request to show your main weapon in a private message to another player, which can be done by ⇧ Shift + left-clicking the weapon. Players usually request this for more difficult dungeons to determine whether your gear level is high enough to join the squad. It may also be used for squads that want to nuke bosses quickly (kill bosses before they have a chance to do anything).

Luring a single monster out of a group of monsters.
Puller
Person who pulls monsters for the squad.
Pulling
One of the players in a party heads out and leads one or more of the monsters back to the squad so that the party can attack the monsters. The idea is to prevent too many monsters from attacking at once.
Pure
Usually referred to in stat builds. For instance, a character with a pure magic build would have the majority of their stat points put into Magic, with only enough points in their Strength stat to wear their equipment.

Phoenix Valley, a dungeon for players level 55+ that awards high experience.
PvE
Player vs. Environment. Combat between players and monsters.
PvP
Player vs. Player. Combat between players.

Some players may use the term "timer please" to indicate they need help to leave their current dungeon to enter a new version of it, through inviting them to a squad, giving the player leadership of the squad, and then leaving the squad.
