Coming of Age Quest Chain

The Coming of Age Quest Chain, also referred to as the Goshiki Quest Chain or Tideborn Quest Chain, is a series of classic quests for players level 50 and above, reawakened or not. The quest chain is listed in the Classic section of the Perfect World Anecdote, and will award players with 1 Insight Point for completion. The quest chain contains high experience-rewarding quests that tell stories of the Tideborn race.

Completing parts of this quest chain will award players with a level 55 Quicksand Maze weapon and a level 55 Quicksand Maze armor set consisting of a chest plate, pants, boots, and wristguards. You will also receive the title Warrior Proper for completing the quest chain.

Quests[ | ]

Once a character reaches level 50, they will receive a popup quest indicating that they should talk to their race's Elder, where the quest chain will begin. The entire quest chain can be completed at level 50.

Coming of Age: Strange Statue[ | ]

Quest Dispatcher: Elder (in the city of your character's race e.g. City of the Plume for Winged Elves)

  1. The player will receive a Teleportation Scroll, which will take the player to Dreamweaver Port if used.
  2. Talk to Forbidden Pillar at Dreamweaver Port (669, 353 ↑21)

Coming of Age: A Foreign Race[ | ]

Quest is acquired automatically after completing Coming of Age: Strange Statue.

  1. Talk to Goshiki at Dreamweaver Port near the Forbidden Pillar (668, 352 ↑22)

Coming of Age: Goshiki Left[ | ]

Quest is acquired automatically after completing Coming of Age: A Foreign Race.

  1. A popup will appear indicating that Goshiki has joined you. Confirm it to continue to the next quest.

Coming of Age: See the World[ | ]

Quest is acquired automatically after completing Coming of Age: Goshiki Left.

You will receive multiple popup quests during this part that each give rewards.

  1. Talk to the Dreamweaver Elder at Dreamweaver Port (662, 375 ↑26). He will talk about the history of Dreamweaver Port.
  2. Go to Etherblade City around (448, 873) to learn about the city.
    • A popup will appear named Coming of Age:Etherblade City. Confirming the popup gives 4 Silver Coins, 2000 Experience, 800 Spirit, and 1 Reputation.
  3. Go to Etherblade Lake around (492, 895) so Goshiki can take a swim.
    • A popup will appear called Coming of Age:Strange Weather. Confirming the popup gives 4 Silver Coins, 2000 Experience, 800 Spirit, and 1 Reputation.
  4. Talk to Dizzy near Etherblade Lake (491, 890 ↑22), who will demand repayment for falling off her flyer after being distracted by Goshiki.
    • Another popup will appear indicating that Dizzy has joined the party. Confirming the popup gives 4 Silver Coins, 2000 Experience, 800 Spirit, and 1 Reputation.
  5. Go to City of the Lost around (249, 656) to learn about the city.
    • A popup will appear named Coming of Age: The Lost City. Confirming the popup gives 4 Silver Coins, 2000 Experience, 800 Spirit, and 1 Reputation.
  6. Go to City of the Plume around (334, 422), near the Plume City Elder, to learn about the city.
    • A popup will appear named Coming of Age: Plume City. Confirming the popup gives 4 Silver Coins, 2000 Experience, 800 Spirit, and 1 Reputation.
  7. Go to Tellus City around (381, 231) to learn about the city.
    • A popup will appear named Coming of Age: Tellus City. Confirming the popup gives 4 Silver Coins, 2000 Experience, 800 Spirit, and 1 Reputation.
  8. Go to Dawnglory around (750, 847) to learn about the city.

Quest is acquired automatically after completing Coming of Age: Elder's Letter.

  2. Talk to the Fisherman north of Mount Lantern, south of Angler's Village (639, 802 ↑21).
  3. Talk to Ormin in Angler's Village (644, 838 ↑21).

Coming of Age: Mystery Race[ | ]

Quest is acquired automatically after completing Coming of Age: An Old Friend.

  1. Talk to Ormin in Angler's Village (644, 838 ↑21). He will tell the player of his experiences with the Tideborn race long ago. He will also mention the Coming of Age ceremony.
  2. Two popups will appear. Confirm them both to receive the next quest.

Quest is acquired automatically after accepting the two popup quests after completing Coming of Age: Mystery Race.

Quest Dispatcher: Elder of Raging Tides, City of Raging Tides (657, 143 ↑25)

  1. Kill Obsidian Frostbound (level 50), located at Snowdragon Heights around (453, 249 ↑24).
    • The player must kill this boss alone and cannot receive help from other players. However if they deal more than 50% damage to the boss then another player can help finish it off. They can also help by healing the player instead.
    • The boss has 203,522 health. It will attack the player from range.
  2. Return to the Elder of Raging Tides (657, 143 ↑25).

  1. Kill 2 (Fake) Spiralshell Crabs at Wave Breaker Cliffs around (639, 177 ↑24) and (644, 180 ↑24).
    • There are two different types of Spiralshell Crabs. Fake ones move faster, are more colorful, and have lower defense. Real ones move slowly, have less color, and have higher defense.
    • Fake Spiralshell Crabs will also be highlighted by a blue light. If you do not see a blue light, your effects settings may be too low.
  2. Return to the Elder of Raging Tides (657, 143 ↑25).

  1. Kill the Tideborn Traitor (level 60), located in Morning Star Valley on the Island of Broken Dreams (658, 259 ↑22).
    • Not to be confused with the level 150 Tideborn Traitor at Wave Breaker Cliffs.
    • The Tideborn Traitor has 80,000 health, deals melee physical damage, and may require the help of another player or a healer.
    • When the boss dies, she will ask the player to bury her remains, however this part of the quest chain has been removed.

Coming of Age: Willpower[ | ]

Quest Dispatcher: Elder of Raging Tides, City of Raging Tides (657, 143 ↑25)

  1. Go to the center of City of Raging Tides (667, 124) and wait 5 seconds.
  2. Quests will appear tempting the player with "rare items". The player must not move from their spot - the items are not real. If you talk to Duke Blacke in Archosaur you will not receive any items.
    1. Wait 10 seconds.
    2. Wait 15 seconds.
    3. Wait 20 seconds.
  3. Return to the Elder of Raging Tides (657, 143 ↑25) when the quest says to do so.

Coming of Age: Sacrifice[ | ]

  1. The player can choose to collect 5, 10, or 15 flowers. The more flowers they choose to collect, the higher their reward will be.
  2. Collect the chosen amount of Flowers near the Lake of Blood, north of City of Raging Tides around (661, 155).
  3. Return to the Elder of Raging Tides (657, 143 ↑25).

  1. Kill 1 Staunch Worm, flying above White Sand Beach around (642, 119 ↑23), (648, 113 ↑27), and (646, 117 ↑23).
    • Staunch Worms have an Elemental Immunity and can only be damaged by physical attacks. They have 5 health and will only take 1 damage at a time.
    • When attacked the Staunch Worms will fly away in the opposite direction of the player and may reset to their starting position after a while.
  2. Return to the Elder of Raging Tides (657, 143 ↑25).

    • If the player somehow loses their Energy Crystals, they can purchase 6 more for 10,000 Silver Coins through the "Purchase Energy Crystal" quest from Craftsman Betep. You must be level 51 to purchase the crystals.

  1. Exchange 6 Energy Crystals for 6 Burnt-Out Energy Crystals by interacting with the Energy Devices around the outskirts of City of Raging Tides at (650, 110 ↑22), (651, 139 ↑22), (659, 117 ↑22), (661 ,152 ↑22), (669, 113 ↑22), and (679, 124 ↑22). You can dig from the same Energy Device 6 times.
  2. Deliver the 6 Burnt-Out Energy Crystals to the Elder of Raging Tides in City of Raging Tides (657, 143 ↑25).

Coming of Age: Solution[ | ]

Quest Dispatcher: Elder of Raging Tides, City of Raging Tides (657, 143 ↑25)

  1. Talk to the Ladywraith just outside Orchid Temple (581, 769 ↑28).
  2. Go to the Haunted Path near Tai Chi Shore (560, 977). There will be a battle between the Undead Army and Explorers.
  3. A popup will appear. Confirm it to continue.
  4. Kill 5 Undead Army (level 55) in the same location (560, 977).
    • Killing an Undead Army being fought by Explorers may not always count towards the kill count.
  5. Talk to the Tideborn Captain nearby (568, 970 ↑21). He will give the player a Bloodstained Bag.
  6. A popup will appear. Confirm it to continue.
  7. Kill General Feng (level 54) nearby (553, 979 ↑23). He is a boss with 300,000 health.
    • It is recommended to have higher-leveled players help kill General Feng, as he can easily wipe out level 50 players.
    • General Feng will AoE so the player should stay back if they do not have much health or defense.
    • General Feng will also curse players, increasing the damage they take. This can be purified.
  8. Return to the Elder of Raging Tides in City of Raging Tides (657, 143 ↑25).

Rewards: 275 Silver Coins, 137400 Experience, 54960 Spirit, 14 Reputation

Players can also choose a level 55 Quicksand Maze weapon of their choice. Make sure to choose one that is suitable for your class.

Coming of Age: Destiny[ | ]

To begin the quest the player will need a Bloodstained Bag, obtained from the previous quests. If they somehow lost the Bloodstained Bag, they can purchase another through a quest named "Purchase Bloodstained Bag" from the Elder of Raging Tides for 10,000 Silver Coins.

  1. Talk to Goshiki at Dreamweaver Port near the Forbidden Pillar (668, 352 ↑22).
  2. Collect 4 Golden Herbs. Many of them can be found outside the City of Raging Tides. The closest herbs are at the Southern Outskirts.
  3. Deliver the Golden Herbs to Goshiki at Dreamweaver Port near the Forbidden Pillar (668, 352 ↑22).
  4. Talk to the Elder of Raging Tides in City of Raging Tides (657, 143 ↑25) and tell him of Goshiki's plan.
  5. Talk to Dizzy near Etherblade Lake (491, 890 ↑22) and tell her about the upcoming battle.

Rewards: Earthbound Stamen, 275 Silver Coins, 137400 Experience, 54960 Spirit, 14 Reputation

Coming of Age: Blood Combat[ | ]

This quest must be done alone; the player cannot be in a squad. It is also recommended to bring health and mana potions or charms before taking the quest.

The quest also has a 30-minute time limit and will fail if the player dies or takes longer than 30 minutes. If the player fails the quest they can pick it up again from Dizzy.

Quest Dispatcher: Dizzy, near Etherblade Lake (491, 890 ↑22)

  1. The player will be teleported into the Palace of Nirvana. Goshiki will appear shortly after, along with various monsters.
  2. Talk to Goshiki inside the Palace of Nirvana (421, 558 ↑2).
  3. Kill 15 Undead Soldiers (level 55).
  4. Talk to Goshiki again (421, 558 ↑2). He and his army of Tideborn Warriors will charge the Undead.
  5. Wait 50 seconds. Towards the end, an enemy will attack Goshiki from behind and he will fall.
    • During this minute Goshiki will appear as an attackable monster. Attacking or killing him will not affect the quest(verify).
    • There is nothing you can do to protect Goshiki; he will be attacked regardless of the player's actions.
  6. A popup will appear. Confirm it to continue
  7. Kill 15 Undead Officers (level 55).
  8. Talk to Goshiki again (421, 558 ↑2). He will give the player a Tideborn Statuette before dying.

Coming of Age: Heartbroken[ | ]

The player will be automatically teleported out of the Palace of Nirvana and near Dizzy (480, 830).

  1. A popup will appear. Confirm it to continue
  2. Give the statuette to Dizzy near Etherblade Lake (491, 890 ↑22) and deliver the news of Goshiki's death.
  3. Talk to the Elder of Raging Tides in City of Raging Tides (657, 143 ↑25) and deliver the news of Goshiki's death.

Rewards: 159 Silver Coins, 79400 Experience, 31760 Spirit, 8 Reputation

Players can also choose a level 55 Quicksand Maze set of armor of their choice. Make sure to choose the armor that is suitable for your class.

  1. Get a Raw Crystal by killing the Tideborn Traitor (level 150 boss) near Wave Breaker Cliffs (641, 181 ↑24)
    • Not to be confused with the Tideborn Traitor (level 60), located in Morning Star Valley.
    • The player must kill this boss alone and cannot receive help from other players. However if they deal more than 50% damage to the boss then another player can help finish it off. They can also help by healing the player instead.
    • The boss has 100,000 health and will typically deal ranged magic damage.
  2. Deliver the Raw Crystal to the Elder of Raging Tides in City of Raging Tides (657, 143 ↑25).

Coming of Age: Emerald Moon[ | ]

    • This boss has 324,931 health, attacks from range, and will AoE players on occasion. The player needing the Chrono Core can stay back a far distance to avoid being hit.
  2. Give the Chrono Core to Dizzy near Etherblade Lake (491, 890 ↑22).
  3. Wait 10 seconds for Dizzy to cast her skill with the Chrono Core.
  4. Talk to Dizzy again.
