Nation Wars

Nation Wars is a weekly group PvP event, where players are split into four nations to fight against one another. To participate, players must be level 60+ with at least a cultivation level of Aware of Discord. The Event Calendar claims the requirement is level 100+ with Aware of the Myriad/Aware of the Void cultivation, however this information is incorrect.

There are two different types of Nation Wars - local Nation Wars, and cross server Nation Wars. Local Nation Wars occurs every Monday and Tuesday from 8:20pm-10:20pm server time.

Cross Server Nation Wars occurs every Sunday at 8:20pm-10:20pm CET. For each server, it occurs at the following times(verify). Note that during daylight savings, these times are subject to change.

  • Etherblade and Twilight Temple: Sunday 11:20am-1:20pm
  • Tideswell: Sunday 2:20pm-4:20pm
  • Dawnglory: Sunday 8:20pm-10:20pm

To participate in Cross Server Nation Wars, players must be level 100 with at least a cultivation level of Aware of the Myriad or Aware of the Void. If you have reawakened you can enter at any level.

Maps[ | ]

Entering Nation Wars[ | ]

At 8:15pm (server time) every Monday and Tuesday, Overseer Aeban spawns in all major cities. At this point you can take a quest from Overseer Aeban to receive a Nation War Entry Pass. At 8:20pm (server time), you will be able to talk to Overseer Aeban to enter Nation Wars. You will be randomly assigned to one of the four nations (Flame, Frost, Dark, Light).

If you are in a squad, your entire squad will be assigned to the same nation. To enter as a squad, the squad leader will need to talk to Overseer Aeban to enter Nation Wars the same way one would if they were entering alone. All squad members need to meet the level and cultivation requirements, be in range, and have their Nation War Entry Pass.

You will spawn in your nation's base, which is a safe zone. You cannot cast skills here or see players, and the nation's base cannot be attacked by other nations.

The Nations[ | ]

There are a total of four nations, each lead by the four empresses. These four empresses also govern the four continents surrounding the Midlands.

Flame Nation Large The Flame Nation is lead by the Flame empress, Astrid, the Dragonborne. Their base is located to the south of the map.

Frost Nation Large The Frost Nation is lead by the Frost empress, Kestra, the Tundra Storm. Their base is located to the north of the map.

Dark Nation Large The Dark Nation is lead by the Dark empress, Lorelei of the Depths. Their base is located to the east of the map.

Light Nation Large The Light Nation is lead by the Light empress, Althea, the Celestial Blade. Their base is located to the west of the map.

The Nation Wars Strategic Map[ | ]

By looking at the map using the M key, instead of the usual map seen while traveling Perfect World, a strategic map will be shown. There are a total of 128 territories on the map. It shows all of the territories each nation owns and where battles are taking place. Hovering over territories will show who is currently occupying the territory, what type of battle is required to dominate the territory, and how many points that territory is worth. If a battle is currently occurring it will also show how many players on each side are currently battling. This map allows you to travel to certain territories. The strategic map will also show other details about the progress of the Nation War, to the right hand side of the screen.

Territories[ | ]

Territories will be color coded as follows:

  • Grayish-blue territories belong to the Frost Nation.
  • Green territories belong to the Dark Nation.
  • Red territories belong to the Flame Nation.
  • White territories belong to the Light Nation.

If a territory has a blue-ish color over the top of it, it indicates that a battle there has just ended. This territory cannot be attacked for 1 minute.

Each territory is worth a certain amount of points. If your nation is holding these territories, it will add to their total score.

  • Capture the flag: 3 points
  • Crystal contest: 5 points
  • Bridge battle: 1 point

You can attack any of the territories that are in contact with the land your nation owns, unless there is a battle blocking your way. To attack a territory or join an existing battle, click on the territory, confirm you want to go there. A line showing your path to that territory will appear, with a small yellow person running to indicate you traveling to that territory. Traveling to territories takes time; the further away the territory is, the longer it will take to travel there. A popup window while traveling will indicate how long it will take to travel to that territory. You can stop on any territory on the way and continue your path from there by pressing the cancel button.

You can also travel to a territory that is occupied by your nation and right-click out of the map to spawn in a safe zone area where you can buff up and prepare for the next battle with other friendly players in the same territory. This safe zone is where players will spawn after a battle.

Statistics[ | ]

To the right of the screen you will also see some information regarding the progress of the Nation War.

  • Rewards: This section simply shows a treasure chest, though hovering over it reveals that there are a total of 77,983 Supply Tokens rewarded. These are split between each nation and each player.
  • Operation: This section contains a single button, "Back to base". You can use this button to return to your nation's base. This can be useful if you are far away from the base or you are trapped around other territories that other players cannot reach.

The battle info section contains more details about the progress of the Nation War.

  • Personal Credits: This is your total contribution, accumulated by contributing in different battles. This value can be refreshed by clicking the "Refresh Info" button to the bottom-right of the screen.
  • Battlefield Time: This simply shows the time that Nation Wars occurs, which is 8:20pm-10:20pm server time.

The table below these show a table with all the nations, the amount of players per nation (indicated by the "Number" column), and the amount of credits each nation has earned. These credits are different from your personal credits and are instead calculated by the value of each land that a nation holds. For example, if your nation held three capture the flag lands, worth 3 points each, then your nation would gain 9 credits. The credits are calculated and added every 10 minutes.

Finally, the "Show Chat" button shows the chat box that usually disappears when the map is shown, however the chat box will occasionally appear on its own if a territory has been won or lost.

Chat System[ | ]

The chat system in Nation Wars is slightly different from the regular chat systems. Some chats are unavailable in Nation Wars as they are replaced with Nation War specific ones. Chatting during Nation Wars can also be a bit of a tricky feat, as the chat window can sometimes become inactive when battles are won or lost, meaning that you will need to press enter or click in the chat window again to resume typing.

[Battle] - access using normal chat, heard by current battlefield allies. No cost to talk in this channel.
[Nation] - access using trade chat, heard by the whole nation. Costs 10,000 Silver Coins per message.

Personal Credits[ | ]

Personal credits indicate how much you have contributed in Nation Wars, and are used to determine the amount of Supply Tokens you will receive at the end. There are many ways to gain credits, including, but not limited to:

  • Dealing damage to other players.
  • Killing other players.
  • Healing other players.
  • Picking up the flag (capture the flag).
  • Delivering the flag (capture the flag).
  • Digging crystals (crystal contest).
  • Dealing damage to towers (bridge battle)
  • How well your team does in the battle (win/lose).

The maximum amount of credits that can be gained in one battle is 2,150.

Credits received are also determined on how well other players on the same map performed. If you performed better than other players, then you will receive more credits than them. If you are in a battle with many players and stood around doing nothing, then you would gain very little credits. Soulforce is also a large factor in how many personal credits you will receive. The higher your soulforce, the more credits you can gain by default compared to other players.

Even if you leave a territory, you will be awarded for your actions on it when the battle is over.

Keep in mind that you will still need to contribute to battles in a significant way in order to win Supply Tokens; simply entering and leaving battles will not work. Currently the safest way to guarantee a Supply Token reward is as follows:

  1. Battle players for at least 5 minutes total.
  2. Try picking up and capturing flags, digging crystals, and killing towers in each of the battles. Do this at least a few times.

In the Battlefield[ | ]

Upon entering the battlefield, you will be assigned a team color, indicated by the color of your name. If you are attacking the territory, you will be on the offensive side, with a red name and a red spawn point. If you are defending the territory, you will be on the defensive side, with a blue name and a blue spawn point. Your opponents will have their names hidden by default, however you can right-click their character icon and select "Whisper" to reveal their name in your chat box. You can also open your squad window (default: T) and view player names there, however you will also see player names from your nation. You can use mounts and fly up to 8 meters high.

Each battle has a 25 minute time limit and you are free to leave it at any time. Note that if you leave, you will spawn at the last territory that you last traveled on. If that territory is under attack however, you will spawn back in your nation's base.

You can die in a battle up to a maximum of 5 times, which can be seen in your chat log every time you spawn or respawn. After dying the maximum amount of times, you will be automatically booted back to the last land you traveled to, or the nation's base if that land is inaccessible due to a battle taking place. You can still re-enter the same battle after being booted (provided that the territory is still accessible) and the amount of respawns will be refreshed.

Buffs[ | ]

There are 2 types of buffs - ones you get after each time you die in a battle, the others are available from overseers on each territory for players level 99 and below.

After-Death Buffs[ | ]

After you die and respawn on same map, you will receive a HP buff, magic defense buff, and physical defense buff. You will also spawn with 1.5 Sparks.

Overseer Buffs[ | ]

Overseers are NPCs found in every battle, usually around the spawn area. Players level 99 and below can take a repeatable quest from an ally overseer to receive a buff that increases maximum HP, attack levels, and defense levels, depending on player's level. The lower your level, the better the buff. These buffs expire after every battle, so players will have to take the quest from the overseer in the next battle to get more buffs.

You can also attack the enemy's overseers for Chi.

Battles[ | ]

There are three different types of battles that players can compete in - capture the flag, crystal contest, or bridge battle.

Capture the Flag[ | ]

Capture the Flag

An unclaimed flag

Land value:3
Player limit: 30v30

In capture the flag, the goal is to successfully carry the flag to your team's capture point. There are three flag spawn points, located to the east, west, and middle of the map, indicated by the square areas on the map. The flag will spawn at one of these three locations, at random. The flag will spawn 45 seconds after the battle begins. Either side can pick up the flag, however you must not be hit at all while digging the flag or you will have to start over.

When you pick up the flag, a message will notify all of the players in the battle about it and your team will gain 1 point. At this point you must successfully carry the flag to your team's capture point without dying. The capture point is usually indicated by a red arrow on the screen if you are carrying the flag, making it simple to capture it at the right place. If you are on the offensive side (red team), your capture point will be to the north, and if you are on the defensive side (blue team), your capture point will be to the south.

If you do die, then you will lose the flag. If you successfully carry the flag to your capture point your team will gain 10 points. 45 seconds after the flag carrier has either handed in their flag or been killed, the flag will respawn again. Flags can also be lost if a player is holding it for longer than 8 minutes.

Carrying the flag is no easy task, and should be done by someone who is able to survive a lot of hits from stronger players. Barbarians are usually best for this role. Carrying the flag also has some side effects:

  • You will become visible on the map, indicated by a Flag Carrier Icon red flag icon.
  • Your HP will be increased.
  • Your movement speed will be reduced greatly.
  • Genie skills cannot be used once you have the flag (however genie skills can be used a moment before you pick up the flag).
  • You cannot fly or use a mount.
  • You cannot use stealth (with the exception of the assassin skill ∆Master of Shadows).

The battle ends after one of the teams has 20 points. If the 25 minute battle timer runs out, the team with more points will win the battle.

Tips[ | ]

  • Have at least one person standing at each flag spawn, preferably someone who can carry the flag. This way when the flag spawns, players can communicate where the flag is and keep it safe until help arrives.
  • If you are not carrying the flag, help the person who is. Healing the flag carrier or disabling opponents are a great way to do this.
  • While genie skills cannot be used, apothecary items can. Charger orbs are a great way to get to your capture point quicker.
  • If there are too many enemies attacking at the flag spawn, you can use an Ironguard Powder (along with an anti-stun skill) to dig the flag without being interrupted.
  • Just before picking up the flag, use the Holy Path genie skill. This way, you will be able to run at maximum speed for a short time, even with the flag.

Crystal Contest[ | ]

Crystal Contest

One of the areas of which a crystal can be captured

Land value: 5
Player limit: 40v40

In crystal contest, the objective is to capture crystals in order to gain points for your team. There are a total of five crystals located on the map, indicated by the green circles on the map (by default). Unlike capture the flag, each team's spawn area is heavily protected by guards that will silence opponents if they enter, discouraging spawn killing.

Each crystal has five states, indicated both on the map and at the crystal itself:

  1. Neutral: Crystal is plain colored, the icon on the map is a small green circle.
  2. Attacker Occupying: Crystal turns red, the icon on the map shows as Red Capturing Icon red indicating it is currently being captured.
  3. Defender Occupying: Crystal turns blue, the icon on the map shows as Blue Capturing Icon blue indicating it is currently being captured.
  4. Attacker Occupied: Crystal is red, the icon on the map turns into a Red Captured Icon red flag indicating it has been captured.
  5. Defender Occupied: Crystal is blue, the icon on the map turns into a Blue Captured Icon blue flag indicating it has been captured.

All crystals will start in a neutral state. Once one of the teams has successfully dug one of the crystals, it will go into an occupying state for 30 seconds. At this time the other team can attempt to stop the crystal from being occupied by digging it, though quite difficult due to the amount of time it takes to dig a crystal. After the 30 seconds, the crystal will become captured and any previous attempt to dig the crystal will fail. The crystal will generate 1 point every 10 seconds to the team that captured it. The opposing team can dig the crystal in its captured state, putting it into an occupying state for the opposing team and stopping point generation.

If all crystals are captured by one team, then point generation will increase to 3 points every 10 seconds per crystal.

The battle ends once a team has reached 99 points. If the 25 minute battle timer runs out, the team with more points will win the battle.

Tips[ | ]

  • You can sneak around the map rather than going along the paths by flying around, to stealth capture crystals.
  • Use your map constantly due to the tip above. Your opponents may be sneaking around the map, and you may be able to see them doing this so that you can stop them in time.
  • It is best to go into this battle with a larger group of people. It is easy to lose a crystal contest purely by being outnumbered, even if your opponents are weak.
  • You can use an Ironguard Powder (along with an anti-stun skill) to dig crystals without being interrupted, however usually is not enough time to complete a dig.

Bridge Battle[ | ]

Bridge Battle

The main battlefield for Bridge Battle

Land value: 1
Player limit: 20v20

In bridge battle, the objective is to destroy all of your opponent's towers. There are a total of nine towers to be destroyed. In the battle itself, only three towers will be present at a time. Each of them will reconstruct themselves twice after they have been destroyed. When a tower is destroyed, the team that destroyed it will gain 1 point. Unlike capture the flag and crystal contest, bridge battle only has one spawn point for each team. Each team's spawn area is heavily protected by guards that will silence opponents if they enter, discouraging spawn killing.

Towers can be destroyed by dealing damage to them. Each tower is level 150 with 1,000,000 HP. If there are no opponents in the battle, towers will become debuffed, significantly increasing the damage that they can take. This can happen multiple times throughout the battle if no opponents are present in the battle.

Each tower has a different effect on your opponents if they stand in range.

  • Drain: Drains opponent's Chi and Mana.
  • Fragile: Increases damage taken by opponents.
  • Halt: Freezes opponents for 2 seconds.
  • Penetrate: Reduces opponents' physical and magic defense. It also claims to reduce defense levels, however it is glitched; instead, players will gain 1 defense level.
  • Silence: Seals opponents for 2 seconds.
  • Sleep: Puts the opponents to sleep for 2 seconds.
  • Slow: Reduces the opponents' run speed for 2 seconds.
  • Stun: Stuns opponents for 2 seconds.
  • Weak: Reduces opponents' channeling and attack speed. It also claims to reduce attack levels, however it is glitched; instead, players will gain 1 attack level.

The battle ends once a team has 9 points, when all nine of their opponent's towers have been destroyed. If the 25 minute battle timer runs out, the team that destroyed the most towers (AKA with the most points) will win the battle.

Tips[ | ]

  • You can fly over the battlefield to flank enemies or to reach certain towers without being detected.
  • Keep an eye out for enemies flying over the battlefield due to the tip above.
  • Players with long range skills, such as archers with Galvanic Aura, can attack towers while avoiding their debuffs.

Rewards[ | ]

After the event is finished at 10:20pm (server time), if you are still inside Nation Wars a popup window will appear displaying the results of each nation, their share of the rewards, and finally your reward. The reward for Nation Wars comes in the form of Supply Tokens. You will be sent this reward by mail after Nation Wars is over. This mail can sometimes be sent within a few minutes, or a few hours. This reward is determined by the total amount of points your nation has compared to other nations, the amount of players in your nation, as well as your personal points. If you did not contribute enough to receive Supply Tokens, you will still receive a mail however it will tell you that you did not contribute enough to get a reward.

Supply Tokens can be used at the various forges near Overseer Aeban in North Archosaur.

Cross Server Nation Wars[ | ]

Cross Server Nation Wars occurs every Sunday at 8:20pm-10:20pm CET. For each server, it occurs at the following times(verify). Note that during daylight savings, these times are subject to change.

  • Etherblade and Twilight Temple: Sunday 11:20am-1:20pm
  • Tideswell: Sunday 2:20pm-4:20pm
  • Dawnglory: Sunday 8:20pm-10:20pm

Cross Server Nation Wars (xNW) is quite similar to local Nation Wars, however the main difference is that your server will all be placed in one nation (Light, Dark, Flame, or Frost), and will have to fight the other 3 servers for victory. Therefore, everybody in your server must work together. The other main difference compared to local Nation Wars is that each nation has a single commander. To participate, players must be level 100 with at least a cultivation level of Aware of the Myriad or Aware of the Void. If you have reawakened you can enter at any level.

Cross Server Nation Wars is held on the cross server map and prizes are sent to your mailbox there at the end.

Entering Cross Server Nation Wars[ | ]

Five minutes before cross server Nation Wars begins, General Helian will appear in Archosaur (548, 678). Players who meet the requirements to enter can speak to him to enter Wargod Gulch, the cross server.

Once inside Wargod Gulch, speak with Overseer Aeban and accept his quest. This will give you a Nation Wars Entry Pass. At 20:20 cross server time (see times above for local server times), speak to him again to enter Nation Wars.

Inside Cross Server Nation Wars[ | ]

Players from a single server will be added to the same nation. Once inside Nation Wars, faction chat is disabled and squad chat is only available if it is formed after you enter cross server. The Boutique also cannot be used during cross server battles. While in the cross server, players will have slightly different names than usual, and will have a suffix added to indicate which server they come from. This suffix needs to be added to the end of every player's name in order to whisper them and invite them to squads.

  • Dawnglory: ExampleName[Da]
  • Etherblade: ExampleName[Et]
  • Tideswell: Examplename[Ti]
  • Twilight Temple: ExampleName[Tw]

Opening the map (default: M) will show all of the territories. Clicking on a territory on the map will allow you to travel to it. Players can freely travel through territories owned by their own nation, but traveling through another nation's territory will result in a battle.

Commanders[ | ]

Commanders are players that are chosen by their server to represent their server in Nation Wars. They have the challenging task of coordinating players in their nation.

How to Become a Commander[ | ]

To become a commander, players must nominate themselves for the position using coins. Players can nominate themselves every Wednesday between 8:30pm and 9pm server time. To do this, talk to the Nation War Recruiter and take his quest, which you can find at the same place that Overseer Aeban shows up in each major city. It costs at least one Ten Million Big Note to bid, but you can bid more for a higher chance to be considered for the position. The highest 3 bidders will then be placed into an election process. Note that bids will not be refunded, even if you did not get placed into the election process.

The election process happens from Wednesday at 10pm server time to Thursday at 10pm server time. During this time, players who are level 100+ with at least a cultivation level of Aware of the Myriad or Aware of the Void will be able to vote for a commander. To do this, talk to the Nation War Recruiter again and select (verify). There, you will see a list of players who have bid for the position of commander. Click on the name of the one you would like to become commander. This will consume one ballot. You can vote multiple times. The person with the most votes will become commander for that weekend.

To get ballots, you can talk to the Nation War Recruiter and choose the "Sell Ballot" option. A ballot costs 3,150,000 Silver Coins.

Perks of Being a Commander[ | ]

If you are chosen as commander for your server, you will have access to a number of benefits for the duration of your rule as commander. You will be recognized as the commander with a title placed over your head, as well as a crown icon.

On Fridays before 8pm server time, the commander can talk to the Nation War Recruiter to receive a very strong time-limited blessing. This blessing will last for 6 days and cannot be traded, sold, or account stashed.

Commander's Seal Commander's Seal

HP +500
MP +500
Physical Res. +500
Magic Res. +500
Strength +50

In addition, the commander is able to talk in Nation Chat for free with a different text color to stand out as the commander, meanwhile regular players will still have to spend 10,000 Silver Coins per message with plain white messages. As the commander, you will not actually fight during the duration of Nation Wars. Instead, you will be in charge of the Nation Headquarters where you command your nation. You will be directly responsible for who and where your nation will fight, making the job not a simple one.

Commanders are also given 1,000 Commander Points, which they allocate to different abilities that will affect certain battles:

  • Minor Assist Order: This ability costs 50 Commander Points. It grants all players in a chosen battlefield 25% more points if they win the battle.
  • Major Assist Order: This ability costs 100 Commander Points. It grants all players in a chosen battlefield 50% more points if they win the battle.
  • Modification of Battlefield Entrance Requirements: This does not cost Commander Points. This will set specific requirements for entering a battlefield, such as limiting the number of a certain class that can join, requiring certain stats, or a specific level to enter a battlefield. These requirements can be set for seven battlefields at once.

FAQ[ | ]

Q: I'm on a battlefield, but when I try to travel to the one near it, it says "cannot move".
A: Press M and "leave the battlefield", after that you will be able to travel to the next battlefield.

Q: There is an isolated territory surrounded by enemy territories so it says I can't go there, but there are players on it, how did they get there?
A: They got on the territory before the enemy won the one blocking the way.

Q: I got more points than last time, but less tokens?
A: The points : tokens ratio isn't stable. It will depend on the amount of points everybody else got, as well as the amount of players.

Q: Why did I not receive a reward?
A: If you have not received a mail in the mailbox yet, it is still on its way. If you got a mail with no Supply Tokens, it means you did not contribute enough to get a reward.

Q: I did contribute though! I handed in flags, killed people, etc. Why did I not receive a reward?
A: This is determined by an automated system which basically decided you did not contribute enough, even if you believe that you did. Try some of the other tips in the #Personal points section. If all else fails, send in a support ticket. Players have reported that they have not received any rewards despite contributing.
