What Lurks Below

What Lurks Below is a series of side quests found in Neverfall, the capital of the Western Steppes. It is available after completing the First Contact quest chain, which is a part of the Neverfall Quest Chain. It requires the player to be on their second reawakening at level 100+ with a Boundary of Mirage Sky I or higher. The final part of the quests requires the player to own a Homestead.

This quest series will award the player with Experience, Spirit, Vitae, and Neverfall Squire's Badges. It will also award the Virtuous, Ruthless, and Chef titles, as well as some Homestead decorations.

Tips

• Do not sell or discard any of the quest items you receive or you will not be able to complete the quests. The quest items you will receive are Gloria's Letter, Marketplace Development Plan, Title: Virtuous, Title: Ruthless, Crate of Wine, Menu, Gourmet Recipe Pack, Badge: Chef.
• If you somehow misplace any of the quest items you must send a Support Ticket to Customer Support, however there is no guarantee that you will be reimbursed.
• If you somehow misplace the Homestead Recipes required for Way of the Cook, you won't be able to complete the quest unless another player contracts their extra recipes for you. The recipes have sometimes been given out during events, however these events are rare.

Quest Dispatcher: Hsu Hsiaoko, West City, Neverfall (327 586)

1. Go to (319 572), next to the statue of Alexander located west of the Marketplace.
2. Talk to Dakkar in Setzis Canal (314 570 ↑9).

Rewards: 65845 Experience, 14881 Spirit, 79 Vitae

Dakkar's Request

Quest Dispatcher: Dakkar, Setzis Canal (314 570 ↑9)

1. Kill 2 Carnivorous Fish. They will appear after digging the Strange Coral Formations around Setzis Canal (309 571 ↑9).
   • The fish can only be damaged by the player who digs the coral, so other players cannot help you kill them. They can help heal you, however.
   • The Carnivorous Fish are level 150 with 64k health. They will occasionally stun the player.
2. Talk to Dakkar in Setzis Canal (314 570 ↑9).

Rewards: Neverfall Squire's Badge x1, 790139 Experience, 178571 Spirit, 948 Vitae

Source of the Sea Monsters

Quest Dispatcher: Dakkar, Setzis Canal (314 570 ↑9)

1. Talk to Harthak of the Black River to the north in Setzis Canal (307 582 ↑9).
2. Harthak of the Black River will spawn and attack the player. Kill him.
   • Harthak can only be damaged by the player that triggered the quest, so other players cannot help you kill him. They can help heal you, however.
   • Harthak of the Black River is level 150 with 63.8k health. He will occasionally use a stronger attack on the player.
3. Talk to Dakkar in Setzis Canal (314 570 ↑9).

Visiting the Marketplace

Quest is acquired automatically after completing Source of the Sea Monsters.

1. Talk to Gloria at the Marketplace in Neverfall (333 566).

Rewards: 65845 Experience, 14881 Spirit, 79 Vitae

Dear Brother

Quest Dispatcher: Gloria, Marketplace, Neverfall (333 566)

1. The player will receive Gloria's Letter.
2. Talk to Kenyon in the Financial District in Neverfall (371 571).
3. Kenyon the Enraged will appear and attack the player. Kill him. He is level 150 with 24k health.
   • If the player fails to kill Kenyon they can trash the quest and retake it to get him to reappear.
4. Talk to Bernard in the Financial District in Neverfall (371 571).

Rewards: 65845 Experience, 14881 Spirit, 79 Vitae

Bernard's Questions

Quest is acquired automatically after completing Dear Brother.

1. Bernard will ask the player a series of questions. Talk to him three times and choose the correct responses to progress through the quest.
2. First Question: Alright, so you say you know my sister. Does she have short or long hair?
   • Answer: Long hair.
3. Second Question: Does my sister wear pants, or a dress?
   • Answer: A dress.
4. Third Question: Alright, here's one you won't guess quite so easily. Where did you meet my sister?
   • Answer: The Marketplace.

Letter From Home

1. Give Gloria's Letter to Bernard.

Quest Dispatcher: Bernard, Financial District, Neverfall (371 571)

1. Talk to Secretary Ju Lee in City Hall at western Neverfall (315 615).
2. The player will receive a Marketplace Development Plan.
3. Give the plan to Bernard in the Financial District in Neverfall (371 571).
4. Talk to Gloria at the Marketplace in Neverfall (333 566).
5. The player will receive Title: Virtuous. This can be taken to Grocer Arnold in Neverfall (325 583) to receive the Virtuous title via the "Title: Virtuous" quest.
6. Talk to Grocer Arnold in West City in Neverfall (325 583).

Rewards: 526759 Experience, 119048 Spirit, 632 Vitae

A Failing Business

Quest Dispatcher: Grocer Arnold, West City, Neverfall (325 583)

1. Go to (328 574), at the stalls south of Grocer Arnold's shop.
2. Talk to Grocer Arnold in West City in Neverfall (325 583).
3. Collect 5 Rosewood from Rosewood Trees south of Neverfall (323 547). They are the trees with white leaves. Click around the base of the tree to dig.
   • You can dig from the same tree multiple times.
4. Collect 5 Blue Crystals south of Neverfall (320 545).
5. Talk to Grocer Arnold in West City in Neverfall (325 583).
6. The player will receive Title: Ruthless. This can be taken to Smuggler Lynch in Neverfall (327 573) to receive the Ruthless title via the "Title: Ruthless" quest.
7. Talk to Smuggler Lynch at the Marketplace in Neverfall (327 573).

Rewards: Neverfall Squire's Badge x1, 987674 Experience, 223214 Spirit, 1185 Vitae

A Career in Smuggling

Quest Dispatcher: Smuggler Lynch, Marketplace, Neverfall (327 573)

1. Talk to Smuggler Lynch again. He will give the player a Crate of Wine.
2. Give the Crate of Wine to Vintner Douglas at the Marketplace in Neverfall (329 569).

A Fitting Reward

Quest Dispatcher: Vintner Douglas, Marketplace, Neverfall (329 569)

1. The quest will complete automatically.

Way of the Cook

This quest requires the player to own a Homestead, and works differently to regular quests. You will not receive this quest right away.

1. Open the Gourmet Recipe Pack. You will receive Common Recipe: Steamed Fish, Common Recipe: Stewed Chicken, and Gen.: Teriyaki Chicken.
2. Enter your Homestead. Right-click the three recipes you just received in your inventory to learn them. They can now be crafted in your Heavenly Creation Workshop under the Basic tab.
3. Enter the Homestead Quests interface by clicking the Q button at the top-left of the window. In the Delivery tab will be a quest named "Way of the Cook". Click this quest and click the "Accept" button in the bottom-right of the quest window. The Menu will disappear once you accept the quest.
4. Craft 1 Steamed Fish, 1 Stewed Chicken, and 1 Teriyaki Chicken through your Heavenly Creation Workshop under the Basic tab.
   • The Teriyaki Chicken is named "Teriyaki Mutton Chop" in the Workshop list.
   • If you cannot craft these, make sure you have enough Cleanness. You will also need 15 of each Homestead material and 15 Silver Coins. You do not need Energy.
5. Enter the Homestead Quests interface again by clicking the Q button at the top-left of the window. Go to the Complete tab, click on the "Way of the Cook" quest, and click the "Completing quests" button in the bottom-right of the quest window.

Product Approval

Quest is acquired automatically after completing Way of the Cook.

1. Leave your Homestead and talk to Vintner Douglas at the Marketplace in Neverfall (329 569).

Rewards: Badge: Chef, 131690 Experience, 29762 Spirit, 158 Vitae

The Badge: Chef can be used to get the Chef title by taking the "Title: Chef" quest at Vintner Douglas at the Marketplace in Neverfall (329 569).
